Foggy Morning

Foggy Morning

Winter is in full swing here on the prairies and, despite mild weather I miss fall. So, I’m going to share some of it with you today. I did promise I would (Frost and Fog), several weeks ago, didn’t I? So here it is..

Morning fog is so gorgeous, when combined with sunshine and lovely fall colors. We have had a chance to take some pictures a few weeks back, when all the gorgeous leaves were still attached to the trees and we took full advantage of it. Gorgeous morning, with a bit of frost decorating the grass and sun highlighting trees, when it finally rose. We must have spend two hours walking with our dog and taking pictures. I can’t think of a better way to start my day! Enjoy!

Frost and Fog

Frost and Fog

A few weeks back we have had a pleasure to welcome sunrise in Rundle Park in Edmonton’s River Valley. It was a gorgeous frosty beginning of a foggy morning which, combined with a lovely show of fall colors was simply perfect for some gorgeous photography. I took a lot of pictures of the various subjects during our long walk around the park and and will share some of them in the coming weeks. I am not ready yet for winter photography, so fall it is, falks! Enjoy!

A Beautiful September Evening

A Beautiful September Evening

Last September (I simply cannot believe it has been a year already!!) we went for a drive in and around Elk Island NP one lovely evening. We were lucky to encounter some bison as well as a few other animals, but the best part was watching all the colors being displayed in gorgeous sunshine. It is always such a feast for one’s eyes! It’s almost, as if Mother Nature gave us the beautiful colors to enjoy before it is all gone, in preparation for the monochrome of winter. Here is a selection of shots from that outing. Enjoy!

September Rockies

September Rockies

Visiting Calgary gives us an opportunity for a short trip to the Rockies. If we have a few hours and the weather is cooperating, we often take our cameras and go out and explore. After all, it’s only a little over an hour drive from the city. Last September (I can’t believe it has almost been a year, already!), we have managed one such trip. It was great to escape to the wilderness and go for an adventure. It was a bit too early in the season for the fall colors but some of the trees and shrubs were already turning yellow and orange, giving a great contrast to the heavy clouds in the sky. Here are a few images I have taken during that outing. Enjoy!

August in Elk Island

August in Elk Island

Summer of 2019 was difficult, photographically speaking. Not only we were both busy with our jobs, but when we had time to venture outside the city the weather did not cooperate. Rainy summer made for beautifully green countryside, though. Where, usually, buy the end of August we had tired looking trees and burned our grass everywhere, this year all that was not in evidence. Thus it was a great pleasure to go out, one evening and take a short trip to Elk Island. Here is a few shots from that trip. This time of year, it is with a lot of pleasure that I look at them and enjoy memories of colorful world and warmer days. I hope you feel that same way 😀

Elk Island in Black and White

Elk Island in Black and White

Those who follow our blog know that I am rarely in the habit of processing my pictures in monochrome. I love colors, all colors. I use photography as a medium to brighten my world, especially in winter months, when we are stack to see the blacks, browns, whites and blues, most of the time bleached out, lacking saturation. Having said that, I believe that some pictures just have to be processed in black and white. They just don’t look well in color. Today, I decided to share some shots I took over the last year in Elk Island NP, that, for one reason or another, had to be processed in monochrome. Don’t ask me for a conscious reason behind my choice of post processing, because I won’t be able to explain. It just felt right… I hope you will enjoy this post as much as the other, more colorful ones ;D
