Walking 1

Walking 1

So it’s decided. Going to start a daily walking walk. Yes, a walking walk. I mean I am Stig’s fat cousin, so I need a little exercise from time to time. During every walk I plan to take and post a photo or two. The pictures will be taken using hipstamatic application, with my iPhone. We will see how this goes, and hopefully I don’t loose interest after a week or so. Wish me luck.

Recovery Update

Recovery Update

Just a quick update.  Saw my cardiologist finally, after almost 3 months of trying to get an appointment.  The good thing is my daily intake of medically flavoured skittles is down to 1/5 of what it used to be.  The picture here shows my weekly intake of these things.  I hate taking pills.  Absolutely despise them.  Looks like I’m healing well, and soon I’ll be back to my normal self.  Scary 🙂

Got me a bike.

Got me a bike.

Bike
So I finally got myself a proper bicycle.  One that fits me.  Since I learned to ride a bike at 4 years old, I fell in love with it.  Never was into competitive or serious riding, just for myself.  I used to spend hours on a bike when I was a little younger.  Just riding where I could.

Bike

After starting my professional life of work, I forgot about it, and I tried from time to time, to get a bike, but none were big enough.

Bike

After having some little heart problems lately… I’ve decided to visit a proper bike shop, and lo’ and behold they had one that fit me.  Amazing!  Funny didn’t even realize that the company “Devinci” is actually a Canadian company.  Makes the bike even more special.

Bike

Next thing I found was an iPhone app called Cyclemeter. This is a perfect app for bike riding.  It uses the GPS in the iPhone to track and save your routes, with speed, times, and then if you ride the same route it will compare your time and speed and all the other parameters.  Very very cool app.

Bike

Since I got the app, there had to be a way of mounting it on the bike.  Of course no one locally carries any of that stuff, which is strange considering the popularity of an iPhone.  So I did some research on the net and found a very nice mounts from RAM.  It was a 5 minute install, and it holds the iPhone very securely.  Perfect.

Bike

So now I can ride and ride and ride…. like the wind…. or a little breeze 🙂

During our visit to the market, we walked around the Whyte Ave, which I think is the only avenue in Edmonton that actually has any pedestrian traffic.  It’s always jammed up with people. No surprise, when you have cafes, open style restaurants, bars, and vendors (mostly art) lining the avenue.  Since I was hip shooting, I did manage to capture some vendor’s art.  Enjoy.

Apple iPad

Apple iPad

Well the iPad is an absolutely amazing little device. Since the time in the hospital I’ve been using it to work, edit pictures, blog, play games…etc. Yes you saw that right, edit pictures. I have found this awesome application for the iPad called “Photo fx Ultra”. It can add all kinds of different effects to your photos, with a lot of settings. Using my iPhone, I can transfer the photos via another app to the iPad, then edit the photos to my liking and using “Blogpress” app I can post all of this to my blog. Yes I can do all that with a laptop, but the cheapest Macintosh laptop is about $1000, and the iPad is about half the price, also it’s smaller, has an amazing touch screen, and the battery lasts almost forever. It is definitely like a little laptop replacement, with amazing features. Here are some shots taken with the iPhone then edited on the iPad. Enjoy!
