That was spring..

That was spring..

I can’t believe how much time has passed since the last post.  Way too long, if you ask me! However, life has a way of messing up one’s plans, sometimes… All I can do is try to fix it ;D. So, with no more delay, let us take a look at this year’s spring.  It was gorgeous, when it finally came. All colorful and pretty, full of sunshine and flowers.  I did take my camera with me a few times, to capture the new leaves, cherry blossoms and anything else that caught my color-starved eye.  Here is a few of the shots I have managed to take in the few moments I was afforded outside, enjoying warm weather and some fresh air…

It’s finally Spring!!

It’s finally Spring!!

It has been an unusually long winter for us, poor things living on the prairies, but finally, we are blessed with a beautiful sunny days and the lack of snow ;D  Things are starting to grow and pretty soon the world will be green again. For now, it’s only the trees that show signs of moving in the right direction, but it should change pretty soon.

I took my camera yesterday on our walk with the dog and managed to take a few images.  Haven’t had time to process them all, but even a little bit is better than nothing, right?  Enjoy!

Frost

Frost

It’s not always, that I enjoy winter. Most of the time I am miserable and cold and try to keep indoors as much as possible. Once in a while, though, I can’t wait to be outside with my camera, even if temperatures stay below -20oC and I don’t mind it at all. It happens, when there is fog in the morning and there is no wind to destroy frost buildup on the trees and shrubs.  The world looks magical then and I am glad I have managed to capture some of such magic a while ago.  Enjoy!

People and Horses

People and Horses

Horses are so beautiful, aren’t they?  I love to watch them though, unfortunately, I don’t have many chances of doing that living in the city…  Some time ago, however, such opportunity presented itself when we were invited to join a photo shoot in one of the stables close to Edmonton, where the riders wanted a few portraits with their favorite rides.  It was a gorgeous summer evening and we were able to enjoy watching an exercise session with a couple of those lovely creatures and, of course, take a picture or two as well.  It’s also, an opportunity to share some summer, with all us poor folks, watching it snowing, yet again.. Summer memories, nothing like it during a cold winter day.. Enjoy!

Foggy winter mornings are a wonderful treat for photographers.  I was so happy to be able to take advantage of one such morning a short while back, even if I was frozen stiff after returning home ;D Not being able to travel too far that day, we took our dog for a walk in Hermitage Park here in Edmonton. What I saw that day I will share with you in this post. Enjoy!

Elk Island At Night

Elk Island At Night

It is an interesting experience to visit Elk Island at night.  We are a city creatures, not very comfortable with being in nature without the ability to see.  And then, there are the noises. It is so eerie to stand in the middle of nowhere, where it is pitch black and so quiet that every noise carries a long way. Hard to judge the distance separating us from the animals making that noise.  The coyotes are close by and call to each other quite often. A bison male is walking through the forest, somewhere in the vicinity.. An owl is hooting somewhere close by.. But what you hear is not as scary as what you don’t.  One time, not that long ago, we were positioned on the other side of Bison Loop shooting northern lights. Close proximity to the road, as annoying as it is because of the frequent traffic, was very lucky for us that time.  It was very quiet so we were so surprised when one of the cars crossing by spooked a large moose heading straight towards my spot.  Fortunately the animal changed direction and run away, without getting too close to me… Needless to say, we packed our gear up and moved somewhere else, where there were a bit more people close by.. Regardless of those close calls and spookiness of the night at the park I absolutely love going there to shoot the sky.  You can see so many stars there! The sky can be so very beautiful. Judge for yourselves..
